How Twitter Plans to Give you more with 140 characters

Twitter in a blog post shared one of the feature that will soon be unveiled. This will see that you get more characters and you can do much more with just 140 characters. Previously they were not enough and even today they might seem not enough for many who would wish to write stories.

That aside with the introduction of polls,  GIFs you can simply say everything you want with a single GIF picture. And still if it’s a poll you can create it right away for people to react on it.

Twitter has come up with new ways of letting you do more with the 140 character allowance. And here is how Twitter plans to give you more with 140 characters.

  • Your Replies: When replying to a Tweet, @names will no longer count. This will make having conversations on Twitter easier and more straightforward, no more squeezing of words into 140 characters.
  • Media attachments: When you add attachments like photos, GIFs, videos, polls, or Quote Tweets, that media will no longer count as characters within your Tweet.
  • Retweet and Quote Tweet yourself: With this you will be able to retweet your own tweets that you feel they performed very well and need some reflection
  • Twitter say Goodbye to @: New Tweets that begin with a username will reach all your followers. If you want a reply to be seen by all your followers, you will be able to Retweet it to signal that you intend for it to be viewed more broadly.

What do you think of this step by twitter? Is it one of the best or should they increase character count?
