Galaxy S6 TouchWiz Said to Resemble Stock Android

The Galaxy S6 is expected to represent a fresh start for Samsung from a hardware perspective, but it looks like the company’s “Project Zero ” initiative may extend to the phone’s software as well. A new report from Business Korea claims the upcoming device will feature a totally redesigned version of TouchWiz UI that’s less bloated and more efficient than ever before.

The report adds that the new TouchWiz is designed to resemble Google’s own stock Android UI on devices like the Nexus 6 . Beyond improving its look, Samsung wants to
offer a smoother experience and take up less storage space with its own software. We’re expecting to see the new software unveiled alongside the Galaxy S6 this March at Mobile World Congress, roughly a year after the Galaxy S5 made its debut.

We’ve been asking for a stripped down version of TouchWiz for a while now, and hopefully Samsung is finally ready to listen. There’s still plenty to like about the company’s mobile software, including battery saving features and
powerful image processing, but overall we prefer Google’s sleek new Material Design.

If Samsung can match great
software with an exciting new design it may just have a hit on its hands with the Galaxy S6.
