Some weeks ago I had taken to talk about how possibly Fero Mobile would shake the market with the new device in the offing. The device in the offing was the Fero Iris, this is a 5 inch device whose only special feature is sporting iris scanning capabilities.
Fero Iris in terms of iris scanning can be compared to the likes of Tecno Camon C9 whose highlight features were the cameras and the iris identification was just one way it could be upped.
Fero Iris is not to the specofications that I expected. And as earlier stated something that might make it cost the Kes. 8,999/- on Jumia is the iris scanner. The device sports smaller than expected specs. You can have a quick glimpse at the Fero Iris specs below.
Quick Fero Iris Specifications
- 5.0 inch display screen
- Resolution: 1280*720 pixels.
- Runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Quad core processor with a clock rate of 1 3Ghz.
- RAM: 1GB
- ROM: 8GB
- SD card slot: Yes of course
- Dual SIM support
- 4G connectivity
- 8MP rear camera with LED flash
- 2MP front camera.
- 2500mAh battery.
From the look of things all the above skills can be found anywhere within a price range of 5-7k.
The Fero Iris sports a 5 inch screen that has a resolution of 1280*720 pixels. The display is HD and works fine to display pictures and videos.
Iris is designed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device (Fero Iris) has a processor speed of 1.3GHz on a quad core processor. It is equipped with a MediaTek chipset.
Storage: Fero Iris is a smartphone that loses it on this end. It is built with 8GB internal storage. It should have been atleast 16GB. The device too has this amount of primary memory, 1GB RAM. Considering the camera properties and iris scanning, this should have been better. It has a MicroSD card slot.
Camera: Fero’s latest smartphone with Iris scanning technology has dual cameras; a front and rear. Iris scanning largely depends the camera quality and features. Fero Iris has an 8 megapixels primary camera and a 2 megapixels front camera. But a 2MP camera to me sounds like a joke atleast a 5MP would have been better in 2016 and not 2017.
Connectivity: Fero Iris device is built to support 4G/LTE connectivity. It is equipped with Bluetooth v4.0 and also the device supports Wi-Fi.
Battery: Fero Iris is designed with a 2500mAh battery capacity. Considering the kind of display and other specs, the device can last for up to 6 hours.
