Digital Television in Kenya is set for much shake up after the Jamii Telecoms one of the leading high speed internet provider entering the digital TV providers. The Jamii Telecoms Faiba TV Set top box is an Android powered TV box that will allows consumers to stream live HD videos, movies and TV shows including Netflix which recently entered the Kenyan market.

You remember the Safaricom’s theBigBox android set top box? Well this is a much similar but more juicer device by the Jamii Telecoms.

Jamii Telecoms is television Android TV box is priced at about Sh 10,000 and gives its subscribers access to thousands of Over the Top (OTT) content from Netflix, Huluplus, Kodi and Cloud TV among others.

With the Faiba Android TV box you wil have access to sports channels (Supersport 1 to 5) for all sports bulletins and matches. The Faiba or Jamii Telecoms will charge Sh1,000 ($9.90) per month compared to the Sh9,400 that some pay TV operators have been charging.

However, the users of the Android box must have a minimum broadband Internet connection of 5mbps at a price of Sh5,000 per month to enjoy the high definition content.

Something else note is that as a user you will have to subscribe to the Over the Top (OTT) content independently. What Jamii Telecoms provides is just the Internet connection and the Android TV Box.
